  1. Hope more questions about studying abroad can come up here online as well so we can try and be somewhat connected to these events on the ground 🙂

@Devil’s advocate: It might be good business, but since when was education – the act of learning knowledge – a private good?

  2. @anonymous and devils advocate

The reason the venue is a luxurious hotel is that the exhibitors mostly come from Europe which is cold and hence they require airconditioned and comfortable facilities. The same goes for the potential students they have come to recruit. These events draw large crowds of students who want to study abroad and if the venue is not aircon it would be very stuffy and hot.

Devils Advocate has referred us to the prices for advertising in the catalogue… how much do you think it costs to print 30,000 16 page full colour catalogues and distribute them across Tanzania? Food for thought.

@Jack D… I wish we had more progressive and dynamic people like yourself contributing to forums like these… we would then be very far in terms of internationalisation of our education and not always have to play “catch up” with other nations. It is important to have even more such events that expose us to developments in international higher education and the upcoming trends, subjects and learning methods. And yes a good education even though not a private good, is important. We do not see any institutions of higher learning offering free education now do we?

EdExpo Tanzania 2012 was a great success with a number of Tanzanian students earning full and partial scholarships.

I urge you to attend EdExpo Tanzania 2013 (13th to 15th March 2013) which will have even more (up to 30) international institutions exhibiting their programs.

As a matter of fact Zealand Institute of Business and Technology (Denmark) will be conducting interviews for potential learners at the Protea Courtyard Hotel on October 31st and 1st November. (anther luxurious 4 star hotel) and they will be offering 50% scholarships to all students who qualify for degree courses.
