Mwezi mtukufu mmoja, miezi mingine je?

Mwezi mtukufu wa Ramadhan ndio huo tunaupa mkono wa kwaheri ya kuonana mpaka mwaka kesho tena. Lakini kabla hatujausahau, ningependa kuuliza maswali machache. Je, kufunga kwetu tumejifunza nini? Je, mfungo umetufanya tuangalie nafsi zetu na maisha yetu kwa ujumla katika mtazamo tofauti? Au tumeishia kupunguza uzito tu? Nadhani kwa Wakristo, kipindi kile cha mfungo kabla ya pasaka wanakiita kwaresma…

Nimeuliza hayo kwasababu kuna kitu kimoja ambacho hunitatiza kuhusu mwezi mtukufu na nafsi zetu. Jambo hili linahusiana na ukweli kuwa wengi wetu huwa watukufu ndani ya mwezi huo mmoja tu; halafu basi tena. Hata hivyo lakini, wapo wachache ambao mwezi mtukufu huwapa mtazamo na mwangaza tofauti katika maisha yao. Lakini bahati mbaya wengi wetu hurudi kwenye tabia zetu hatari, au kwa lugha nyingine risky behaviors.

Mwandishi Dean, ambae ameandika kitabu kinachoitwa ‘Almost Christian’ anasema, “more teens becoming fake Christians.”  Hoja zake ni nzuri, nami naamini kuna wafuasi feki; tena wengi zaidi miongoni mwetu sisi vijana. Ingawa Biblia na Quran kuwa na mafundisho mbalimbali juu ya malezi ya vijana, bado sote kama vijana tuna tabia ambazo zina fanana — tabia ambazo zinatutambulisha sisi kama vijana.

Lakini baada ya yote haya, katika hili ongezeko la tabia tata miongoni mwetu vijana, suluhisho ni lipi hasa?

Bahati was born and raised in Tanzania, and then moved to California to pursue his college education. He graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. Bahati expects to be doing his Masters in African Studies in the near future. He is currently working on starting a t-shirt business and a possible publication of some of his writings.
