Results from Poll #1

Our first poll asked “Do you think entrepreneurs can be the agents of economic transformation in Tanzania?”. Response choices were: “Yes”, “Possibly”, “No” and “I’m not sure”. The question was posed in the sidebar of the Vijana FM homepage and was left open for one week, from September 9th to September 16th. No particular sample of respondents was selected; the poll was and continues to be open to whoever visits www.vijana.fm.

Results indicate that we had 10 respondents (thanks, folks!):

  • None voted “No”
  • 10% voted “I’m not sure”
  • 40% voted “Possibly”
  • 50% voted “Yes”

We cannot tell for sure if these responses accurately reflect the majority of peoples’ reflections on entrepreneurship, first because this survey was conducted on an Internet medium and second because of the small number of respondents.

Even so, we can ponder on three further questions up for comments below: For those that responded “Yes”, in what ways can we imagine entrepreneurship leading to economic transformation in Tanzania? For those that responded “Possibly”, what conditions need to be set in order for entrepreneurship to lead to economic transformation? And for those that responded “No”, how else do we imagine that economic transformation can take place?
